Tribal Chic

When I first started painting this series, I didn’t know which brush to use or even how to hold one, or whether to mix water with colours, or how to even draw a straight line. Art came as a gift of divine to me after I was beaten up by a man for multiple hours. It took me 5 painfully long surgeries to survive and I nearly lost my leg too. A true example of young, beautiful and broken - an ocean of chaos. Very soon, my survival instincts had to kick in and that is when I fell in love with colours. My imagination and passion became my escapade. I would forget to eat for days, my hair turned into dreadlocks and I surrendered to art. Through a process of trials and errors and constant dedication, I realised that in three and a half years I have come to a place where I have not only created this magical series but also developed a distinctive style of my own.
This series captures intricate human emotions in an imaginative form and portrays them in a child like manner on canvas, with the usage of intense colours. The calling in humans to connect to their roots and be grounded, brings the aborigine clearly out on the canvas. The mystery of minds working; the emotions of chaos, of pain, excitement and joy help me put together the series called Tribal Chic. I hope you find my work honest and impressive. I would also like to contribute towards the society through my art. So 30% of all my earnings through arts sales would go to orphans and widows.
